Okay, time for a little confession. I am, believe it or not, one of those people who LOVES resolutions. In fact, making resolutions and hearing what other people are hoping to accomplish and do in the year to come is probably my favorite part of New Year's Eve festivities.
I've made resolutions every single year since I was about eleven. Some years, my resolutions have been fairly generic, other years they've been more specific and personally challenging. Some resolutions were met, most were not. Regardless, I love the rush of setting some goals for myself, flipping the calendar over to January 1st and seeing 365 days ahead of me to successfully tackle each one. Resolutions remind me that each year is one big blank canvas, waiting to be filled with new adventures, memories and stories.
Soooooo you might be surprised when I tell you that I am not making any resolutions for 2012. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to accomplish this year and I did come up with some good ideas. But, at the end of the day, what I want more than anything else is for 2012 to be a year of simplicity. A year of "back to basics" if you will. A year of seizing moments as they arise, focusing on what matters, making the most of the little things, appreciating the unexpected, delighting in the everyday. Last year was such a roller coaster ride with many up's and down's and, in true roller coaster fashion, it was over in the blink of an eye. I hope this year moves more slowly, more peacefully, more calmly.
Simplicity. That's what this year is all about for me.
Sounds like a great idea! Good luck :)
