It's a slow day at the office which means I have lots of time on my hands to catch up with reading the new posts on all my favorite blogs. And, in case you've never checked out my "Blogs I Read" list, I have A LOT of favorite blogs. Food blogs, blogs about fashion, home decor blogs, craft blogs, book club blogs, my friends' blogs, blogs about faith, etc etc. It's getting a little out of hand.

I'm going to force myself to do a little bit of virtual purging this weekend. And I'm going to keep track of my blog reading with all with this fantastic new website I just stumbled across called Bloglovin'. It's pretty much the best website in the world for a blog-aholic like myself.

live a life less ordinary

Have any of you heard of 43 Things? It's this website where people can make a virtual, interactive list of things they want to accomplish in life. I find it so interesting to see what other people are hoping to accomplish ... interesting and inspiring, too! Anyways, I thought I'd share a few of the things that are on my list. In no particular order, I want to ~

• Go to Las Vegas
• Have a chandelier in my kitchen (this is a Louisiana thing. If you have no connection to Louisiana, I don't expect you to understand the need for bling in a kitchen, lol)
• Memorize a poem
• Go for a walk through Central Park at Christmas time
• Spend time as a missionary in a foreign country
• Work to abolish slavery and human trafficking
• See a performance by the New York City Opera
• Go to the Santorini Islands, Greece
• Have a meaningful conversation with a perfect stranger, no strings attached
• Spend a day on a farm and milk a cow
• Get married and have a family
• Dance all night with the locals in San Sebastian del Oeste, Mexico
• Go on a cruise of Alaska and see the glaciers
• Spend an evening sitting on somebody's front porch somewhere in the south, listening to a Sam Cooke or Otis Redding album on repeat.
• Have a wardrobe full of sweet, feminine sundresses
• Learn what it means to truly love unconditionally

So that's my list .. not the most exciting list of things in the world, but they are things that matter to me.

spring loves

I recently discovered this great site called Polyvore where you can play around with hundreds of images and make fun compilations. I'm not a fashion guru, but these are my predictions for spring: gray, bright pink, light blue and beige will be "it" colors ... cupcakes and owls will be the most popular images ... and, of course, classic pieces like a nice pair of jeans and a traditional Burberry scarf will remain in style. *sigh* I can't wait for spring.

some kitchen loving

I literally squealed with excitement when I saw these photos on The Kitchen website. The Kitchen is part of The Apartment Therapy site ... and it's got tons of ideas for how to decorate your apartment's kitchen, and all of their ideas are rent-friendly. (By rent-friendly I mean none of the projects involve tearing down walls or any other major renovation that most landlords forbid). Anywhoo ... back to why I squealed.

Those who know me know that my motto toward home decor is "thou shall see everything". I hate drawers, cupboards and closets ... I like all my stuff to be out in the open, where I can see it. I was trying to think of a fun way to display my pots and pans and - voila - I found these photos. Pegboard, people, pegboard!! Why didn't I think of that on my own???

Basic Grey ♥

Ok, so everyone who knows me knows that one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon is shopping for scrapbook goodies at Scrapbook Star. And if, for whatever reason, I can't shop in person I like to get comfy in front of my computer screen and shop online. And if my budget is really not looking so good and spending money is simply not an option, I browse the internet for sneak peeks of soon-to-be released new products.

Yesterday, I stumbled across the new releases by Basic Grey. And let me just say that I am in love. Madly, passionately, deeply, truly in love.


The Ambrosia line is my favorite by far ... butterflies, whimsical damask patterns, bright and bold bohemian colors. PERFECT for autumn pages!! The Eva line comes in second with its pretty pinks and feminine swirls. The Granola line comes in third for me. There are 5 new lines in total ... count 'em people, FIVE ... and I can't wait to see them in real life.
